LOS GAITEROS DE SAN JACINTO — DUB DE GAITA
Adrian Sherwood & Diego Gómez aka Cerrero / Llorona Records
A landmark Colombian cumbia-meets-dub collaboration returns on vinyl — with a previously unreleased dub of “Fuego de Cumbia.”
Llorona Records announces the reissue of Dub de Gaita, the groundbreaking collaboration between Colombian cumbia legends Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, UK dub pioneer Adrian Sherwood, and Colombian producer Diego Gómez aka Cerrero.
Originally released as a limited vinyl edition, Dub de Gaita quickly sold out and has since become a sought-after record among collectors, DJs and listeners exploring the connections between Colombian roots music, dub and electronic production. This new edition brings the record back to vinyl while adding a previously unreleased dub version of “Fuego de Cumbia.”

The project was born from a radical encounter between the traditional music of the Colombian Caribbean and the sonic language of Jamaican and British dub. Gaita flutes, percussion, voices and cumbia rhythms were placed within a world of bass, echo, space and studio experimentation, creating a record that was deeply rooted in Colombian tradition while sounding unmistakably contemporary.
Released at a moment when a new generation of Colombian artists and producers was redefining the relationship between traditional music and electronic production, Dub de Gaita became an important reference for this movement. Rather than treating Colombian roots music as archival material, the project demonstrated its potential as living, evolving music capable of entering new sonic territories.
For Diego Gómez, the collaboration with Adrian Sherwood became a formative chapter in his development as a producer and engineer, influencing the sonic language he would later develop as Cerrero and through his work with Llorona Records and Discos Pacífico.
The reissue continues that story. Alongside the original Dub de Gaita recordings, the previously unreleased “Fuego de Cumbia” Dub offers a new glimpse into this unique meeting of Colombian cumbia and dub.

Gaita, cumbia, bass, echo and dub — back on vinyl.
